Grease stains are easy to come by, but hard to get out. Here are a few ways to get rid of them.
Paper Method
- Lay a piece of brown or blotting-paper over the spot, and pass over it a hot iron. The grease is absorbed by the paper.
Removing Wax Stains
- Stains of white wax, which sometimes falls upon clothes from wax candles, are removed by spirits of turpentine, sulphuric ether, or benzine. The marks of white paint may also be discharged by the above-mentioned agents.
Tips
- Spots of grease may be removed by a diluted solution of potash, but this must be cautiously applied to prevent injury to the cloth.
