How to Stop a Rug from Moving on a Wooden Floor

Aug 7, 2009 09:53 PM

Here is a simple trick to keep a rug from moving and sliding around on a wooden floor without causing damage to the floor.

Look in the kitchen section at your local merchandise store for a roll of non-stick grip material.

Make sure it is called "grip liner."

Buy enough to go under your carpet, or cut a roll down to go under it (depending on the size).

Warnings

  • You may find yourself tripping over your carpet now instead of slipping on it.
  • Any type of throw rug, anywhere in your home, can be a danger for people who have problems walking, those who use a cane or walker, and those with poor vision or blindness.

Things You'll Need

  • Scissors and grip liner.
