When I owned a restaurant, the girls I had from the previous owned did this without water and much faster. You simply FILL the decanter with ice add salt and about 6 oz. white vinegar and swrill for about 20-30 seconds. The decanter comes out just like new. HOWEVER, you cant take a nasty, never been cleaned before one and clean it once and expect new. It will take at least one trip through the dishwasher first. BTW, they NEVER scrubbed the pots with a scratchy pad. Restaurants dont use those.
