Cleaning your oven can be one of the most annoying household cleaning tasks, yet you still clean it every month, and rue every time you do. You tried countless times to make that little button on the control panel that says "Self Clean" work, but it never did.If this is you, this article is for you also.
Look for a lever near the oven door that says "Clean" or "Self Clean" or "Oven Lock" or anything of the sort on it. If you find it, activate it and check to see if the oven door has locked properly. If not, repeat the process.
- Note: The oven door must be closed for this to work!
If your oven has an internal light, look for a switch or button that says "Light" or has a picture of a light bulb on it/next to it. De/activate it to make sure the internal light is off .
Finally, look for a button/switch that says "Self Clean" or something of the sort on it/near it. If you can find something like that, engage it.
- Note: If a prompt on the oven's screen (If it has one) comes up with a time on it, it is asking you for how long you want it to clean itself. Set that with the minute/hour setters on your oven until you get to the desired time.
- If your oven has an "On" button, push it now. It will start the cleaning cycle.
If you notice extreme heat coming from your oven, it's working! If it gets too hot, don't be bashful about cancelling the cycle with your local "Cancel" or "Off" button. This may signal a serious problem with your oven. If it is a little bit of heat, this is normal.
Tips
- You may smell a burnt smell after the oven is done doing it's thing. This is usually normal.
